Australian Partner Visa Costs – Everything you need to know

So you are in a relationship with an Australian and want to get a spouse, partner or marriage visa for Australia? We are here to help.

As an Australian Migration Agent, we help hundreds of people every year achieve their dream of living in and we are constantly asked four big questions about partner visa applications:

  1. How much does it cost for an Australian Visa?
  2. What is the processing time for an Australian Spouse Visa?
  3. What do I need to provide?
  4. Can you help me with my partner visa application, and how do we get the Form 888 filled in?

So to tackle these questions one at a time….

How much does it cost for an Australian Visa?

Now that is a big question, however, if we focus in on the SPOUSE, PARTNER and Prospective Spouse (Fiance) Visa stream, the costs are as follows:

  • Australian Partner visa application fee
  • Australian Spouse visa application fee
  • Australian Prospective Spouse (fiancé) visa application fee
  • AUD $7160

This is the application fee that is paid to the Department of Home Affairs at the time of submitting the partner visa application.

The payment is made online and there is a 1-3% surcharge depending on the method of payment (PayPal, credit/debit card) except by paid by Bpay from an Australian bank account.

The fee is non-refundable even if rejected so be very careful before pressing submit!

There are other costs involved in a partner visa application as well, such as for medicals (around AUD $400 but varies by country), police clearances (again these vary but the AFP clearance is $42), the cost of translating documents and professional processing fees if you engage a migration agent to help you with your application.

What is the processing time for an Australian Spouse Visa?

Processing times change quite regularly for Australian Visas. At the time of writing this, the processing time for partner visas lodged onshore is 14 – 20 months and significantly lower when lodged offshore.

What do I need to provide?

The Australian Department of Home Affairs will need to see evidence of your relationship with your application. Now don’t panic too much, we specialise in helping you with the evidence collection and have some great Partner (De facto, Spouse and Fiance) Visa Document Checklists to help you along the way. We have developed these based on our 12 years of experience in getting partner visas successfully granted as quickly as possible for our clients.

Can you help me with my application and with the Form 888 requirements?

Yes, we certainly can! We help hundreds of people each year get an Australia Visa and we specialise in the Australian Partner visas – whether that be as the spouse, de-facto partner or fiancé of an Australian citizen or permanent resident.

Many people are concerned about the forms to complete, such as Form 888 as well as the application forms for the applicant and the sponsor. That is where we come in. We guide you on the evidence collection requirements for your Australian visa, as well as complete and lodge your partner visa application on your behalf. We liaise with the department as your representative and keep you up to date when the Australian Government either asks more questions, updates your file, or changes the Australian visa processing times.

We hope this provides you with the information you need.
